![]() ![]() Note to tuners, when you are flashing the ECU for $150, pull the plugs and check the gaps! ![]() I pulled the rest and the all looked good, but they measured. The first plug I pulled looked good and the gap measured. I figured before I screwed with the gap, I would measure my old plugs which now had 14500 miles on them. The cheap gauge I had said they were gapped at. I bought 4 NGK PFR7B's that I thought came gapped at. Shouldn't the stock plugs be fine at 7500 miles? Okay, for $50+ dollars, I will try to eliminate all the obvious suspects, but I was skeptical because the tune was not right from the get go and the car was only 7500 miles old when I got the tune. He suggested that it in fact could be knocking under light load if the spark plugs weren't performing. Explained that the fluttering would disappear by just getting into a little boost and sounded almost like the car was knocking. Had called them in the past and got someone that didn't want to be bothered. Wanted to see if maybe there was a simple solution when I described the noise. Contemplating a different tune.įinally decided to call APR again. All the stuff I had done was not helping and I was just introducing a chance that I was compounding the problem. Car started to run worse, still had a lot of power, but now surged at WOT. Found an exhaust leak when I installed the catback and thought that might be the problem. Then purchased the SPM catback to mate up to the SPM downpipe I had installed. Seem like I got more power, but the fluttering continued. I added the Neuspeed TOP and inlet pipes. I lost gas mileage, had more lag, and a symphony of bad sounds under the hood. It sucked though because I felt it was not running well and the tuner said it was fine. ![]() Oh we'll, I just spent a pile if money on APR stuff and I could just get another tune, but I figured I would go another route and add some more supporting mods. I had regrets and made the mistake of posting my regrets in a previous post talking about the APR flutter issue. I took it back to the tuner who did the K04, IC and dp install, and they said my car was fine. Yes the car was fun when playing and at WOT, but lost a lot as a daily driver. That combined with the angry pigeons caused by the diverted valve made the car just feel unrefined. I got what I thought was the flutter covered in other posts when under light throttle at 3000 rpms and above. I added the Audi coil packs right after the tune.
